And the excitement never ends

Big excitement at our house this evening - Julius stayed awake for a full 9o minutes this evening! Until now, all he has done is eat and sleep with about three 10 minute awake periods for the entire day - so it was very exciting to be able to talk and play with him. Well, when I say play, I mean talk to him and wiggle Itsy the Bear in front of him.

The baby thing

The whole baby thing is going well so far.

I can't believe that he was born only 18 days ago - it feels like we've had him forever - I can't even remember what it was like before he was born. Although I'm sure I wasn't quite so tired. It's not that he doesn't sleep - it's just that you only get two or so hours sleep at a stretch before he wants feeding again.

All in all, he's a great baby - we couldn't have done better if we tried. Fingers crossed I'll have something exciting/interesting/vaguely entertaining or even slightly amusing to post in the near future.

I'd like to introduce you to Julius Philip Mark King

Julius obviously got fed up with lurking in my uterus and decided to join us five days early on Saturday, 9 June 2007. He weighed in at 7lb 12oz and was 52cm long and we were only at the hospital for about three and half hours when he arrived.

I've posted a few more pics on Flickr for your viewing pleasure.

We brought him home from the hospital this morning and as we left the hospital, everyone walking past stopped to look at him. Almost everyone asked if he was our first child so I can only assume that the look of terror on my face was not as well concealed as I thought.

A timely update

Baby stuff - Squirmy McBaby not born yet. We went to the doctor again today and he said that everything is fine and that Squirmy is perfectly happy and still growing well. The due date is Wednesday, 13 June but as babies generally arrive when they are ready and not when due to arrive, it could all still be two weeks away. I hope that Squirmy is happy to stay inside for a bit longer as Buster and I have horrible colds at the moment.

House stuff - the majority of the painting is now finished. Buster still needs to paint the window and door frames and the internal doors but the paint we need to use is quite fumey (not a good thing when breathing for two) so it will have to wait. We also still need to paint the kitchen cupboards but have run out of steam for now. I also finally unpacked my books and discovered that I have far too many. My two bookcases are full, there are three boxes still in the garage and I gave another big box to the charity shop.
