If you haven't already read it, I strongly suggest that you lay your grubby little hands on a copy of Oryx and Crake by the ever amazing Margaret Atwood. I just finished reading it and really enjoyed it. It's got a kind of a post-apocolyptic thing going on but is a proper book. This is the kind of book that I would use to beat Dan Brown around the head.

I read The Blind Assassin a couple of months ago, which was my first introduction to Margaret Atwood. It took me considerably longer to read than most books, but I fully intend to lay my grubby little hands on more of her books.
